Heck Statement on Obamacare Rate Hikes

Statement

Date: Oct. 26, 2016
Location: Las Vegas, NV

Dr. Joe Heck, candidate for U.S. Senate, today released the following statement amid reports from the Obama Administration that "the price of the most popular plan under ObamaCare will increase by an average of 25 percent on the federal marketplace next year."

"Obamacare continues to be a disaster for Americans. Apparently, the President left this announcement out of his remarks yesterday, but for individuals, there is no ignoring that rates are going up and coverages are going down. Even individuals receiving subsidies for their premiums have deductibles they cannot afford when they seek care."

"While the ACA expanded access to health insurance, it has fallen well short of its stated goals of expanding access to care and lowering costs, as highlighted by this recent report. While my opponent supports Obamacare and has no plans to fix it, I am committed to enacting patient-centered healthcare reforms that actually expand access to care and reduce costs. That has been my focus in the House and that will be my focus in the Senate."
